Unpaid Counselor Internship

What you will do

• Support patients in identifying strengths and setting social, educational, and occupational goals.
• Conduct group counseling sessions and provide crisis intervention and support services.
• Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures.
• Assist with patient intake, readmission, and follow-up counseling.
• Maintain complete patient records and collaborate with case-management services on referrals.
• Complete required training and follow federal, state, and local addiction-counseling regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
• Pursuing counseling licensure and using internship hours to meet licensure requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, accuracy, attention-to-detail, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
• Ability to work on-site in a standard medical office environment, manage variable workloads, and handle periodic high-stress situations.
