Underwriter IV - Real Estate

Location: In-office role based in Denver, Colorado; Los Angeles, California; or San Diego, California.

Base salary: $100,100.00–$202,800.00 per year; incentive-eligible based on company, business, and/or individual performance.

What you will do

• Independently prepare offerings and scorecards for real estate transactions of varying complexity and manage assigned portfolios.
• Analyze credit, collateral strength, financial condition, and transaction-party creditworthiness to identify risks and mitigants.
• Recommend or make credit decisions and provide guidance on credit structuring.
• Gather and clarify information from internal and external customers and perform relevant pre-approval and post-approval activities.
• Confirm regulatory requirements, follow internal policies and procedures, and manage ongoing credit risk where applicable.
• Coach and review other underwriters, serve as a subject matter expert, and act as a work lead or manager backup when required.

Requirements

• University or college degree, typically a bachelor’s degree, and 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. A comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience, including military service, may be considered instead of a degree.
• Knowledge of credit decisions, financial analysis, risk identification, and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of underwriting, credit analysis and verification, decision-making, and critical thinking.
• Knowledge of real estate development, real estate practice, property data analysis, sales closings, and agreements.
• Knowledge of market research, including onsite inspections and market comparable analysis.
• Knowledge of IRS Code Sections 42 and 47, equity structures and documentation, and third-party or external guidelines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
• No required certifications, licenses, or language assessments are specified.
