Senior Commercial Loan Underwriter (Finance)

Salary: $96,664.36–$120,830.45 per year, depending on experience and before eligible incentives.

What you will do

• Underwrite and analyze complex commercial credit relationships, including commercial real estate, commercial and industrial loans, term loans, lines of credit, participation loans, and SBA loans.
• Partner with Commercial Loan Officers to gather documentation, evaluate requests, structure transactions, and support timely credit decisions.
• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, projections, collateral, credit history, and repayment capacity.
• Prepare credit memorandums covering transaction structure, risk factors, stress testing, collateral, proposed terms, and risk ratings.
• Monitor commercial loan relationships, covenants, financial performance, risk ratings, renewals, modifications, delinquencies, criticized loans, and workout relationships.
• Provide underwriting expertise, guidance, training, mentorship, quality feedback, workflow coordination, and process improvement support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field is preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in commercial lending, commercial loan underwriting, or commercial credit analysis required.
• Experience underwriting commercial real estate, commercial and industrial loans, term loans, and lines of credit.
• Advanced skills in cash flow and global cash flow analysis, financial projections, ratio analysis, collateral evaluation, and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of commercial loan documentation, covenant monitoring, risk rating methodologies, and commercial lending products including SBA lending.
• Ability to make complex credit recommendations independently, communicate financial information clearly, manage priorities, and mentor team members.
