Drainage Engineer

Location: Hybrid; based in one of hirify.global's California offices in Los Angeles, Irvine, San Francisco, or Rancho Cucamonga, or in Portland, Oregon, or Bellevue, Washington

Salary: $114,345.69–$130,680.78 per year

What you will do

• Support drainage engineering design for roadway, rail, bridge, and highway improvement projects.
• Prepare stormwater management designs, drainage systems, culvert calculations, hydraulic structures, BMPs, LID features, and erosion and sediment control plans.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support design decisions, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare technical reports, drainage documentation, specifications, design materials, and engineer's cost estimates.
• Coordinate with roadway, structural, rail, and environmental disciplines, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in design reviews and QA/QC checks of calculations, reports, plans, and permit documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 6–12 years of experience in drainage design, preferably for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer license in Washington, Oregon, or California preferred, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
• Working knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, drainage systems, culvert design, erosion and sediment control, BMPs, and LID strategies.
• Experience with HEC-RAS, Hydrocalc, XPSWMM, StormCAD, WSPG, WNT-55, LAR04, or ORD Storm Module, plus MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer or ArcGIS and strong written and verbal communication skills.
