Pipefitter Apprentice II (HVAC)

Location: Birmingham, AL, at the CSUSA-Mid South HQ; full-time work in field and pipe shop environments

What you will do

• Assist senior pipefitters with installing, modifying, and repairing commercial piping systems.
• Install carbon steel, copper, and other piping materials according to applicable codes and standards.
• Perform pipe fitting, layout, measuring, cutting, basic welding, and fit-up tasks.
• Support installation of pumps, boilers, chillers, and related mechanical systems.
• Read basic blueprints, drawings, and piping schematics.
• Operate hand and power tools, maintain housekeeping, and follow jobsite safety requirements while collaborating with other trades.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of pipefitting or related HVAC trade experience in commercial construction.
• Basic understanding of commercial HVAC and chilled-water, hot-water, and hydronic piping systems.
• Basic piping math, accurate measurement skills, and ability to read basic blueprints and drawings.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools; basic welding knowledge or willingness to learn.
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a background check, drug screening, and pre-employment physical assessment.
