Process Engineer II (Genomics)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin, United States; onsite, full-time

Salary: $76,500–$114,700 annual base salary, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity opportunities.

What you will do

• Support the design, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing and laboratory systems, including fermentation, purification, heat treatment, solids conveyance, centrifugation, chromatography, cold storage, and analytical equipment.
• Develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes and equipment using process engineering, Lean, Six Sigma, JMP, advanced Excel analytics, regression, DOE, and statistical process control.
• Evaluate process performance, identify risks, improve yield and efficiency, and recommend maintenance, CIP, spare-parts, and reliability strategies.
• Prepare and manage engineering reports, protocols, user requirement specifications, maintenance instructions, and technical documentation.
• Support quality, validation, regulatory compliance, equipment qualification, process control, scale-up, and technical transfer from development through manufacturing implementation.
• Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects while mentoring supporting engineers and communicating technical recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training and experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex and ambiguous technical work, including independent execution, documentation, and cross-functional follow-through.
• Experience or interest in statistical tools, advanced Excel analytics, JMP, regression, DOE, and statistical process control.
• Ability and motivation to grow toward a Senior Engineer role by leading complex projects, developing unit-operations expertise, mentoring others, and collaborating with operators.
