TL;DR
Operation Technician (2nd Class Power Engineer) (Hydrogen Production): Controlling and monitoring continuous hydrogen production at a highly automated industrial plant with an accent on steam systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation. Focus on responding to process upsets, performing equipment inspections and operational rounds, supporting maintenance and turnarounds, and maintaining safe and reliable production during rotating shifts.

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; 12-hour rotating day and night shifts

What you will do

  • Control and monitor continuous hydrogen production processes in highly automated plants.
  • Operate steam systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and distributed control systems.
  • Conduct field readings, equipment inspections, water testing, and operational rounds.
  • Support plant turnarounds, outages, maintenance coordination, and equipment reliability activities.
  • Prepare operating procedures, management of change documentation, and audit records.
  • Monitor contractors, issue Safe Work Permits, follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, and participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Second Class Power Engineering Certificate, or Third Class certification with progress toward Second Class certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid authorization to work in Canada.
  • At least five years of plant operations experience, including work in safety-sensitive industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of DCS operations and process equipment, mechanical aptitude, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, perform field inspections, wear required PPE, and work in varying weather conditions.

Nice to have

  • Experience in industrial process operations, hydrogen, refining, petrochemical, utilities, or related industries.
  • SAP knowledge.
