Cost Estimator (Construction)

Location: Empire State Building, New York, New York, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $86,464.77–$98,816.88 per year

hirify.global is hiring for its Project Controls group as an extension of staff at the NYC School Construction Authority.

What you will do

• Review proposed change orders, RFIs, and scope revisions for contractual validity and impact on cost, schedule, and constructability.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates.
• Prepare independent estimates and evaluate contractor pricing, productivity assumptions, rates, overhead, and profit markups.
• Participate in contractor and subcontractor negotiations and provide fact-based pricing recommendations.
• Review field conditions and coordinate scope with engineers, architects, contractors, construction managers, and project managers.
• Visit project sites as needed to verify existing conditions and resolve quantity or scope discrepancies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related construction field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years of estimating experience.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and cost analysis from construction documents.
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and cost drivers.
• Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with public-sector, educational, institutional, or vertical construction projects.
• Experience reviewing contractor change order submissions and claims.
• Familiarity with NYC construction practices and prevailing wage requirements.
• Proficiency with RSMeans, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar estimating software.
