Principal (Charter Schools): Leading a K–12 charter school with an accent on instructional leadership, educator development, student achievement, and inclusive school culture. Focus on coaching instructional leaders, using qualitative and quantitative data to guide strategy, developing school leadership teams, and building systems that recruit and retain high-achieving educators.

Location: Albany and Troy, New York, United States. Full-time, onsite school leadership role with infrequent travel to different KIPP Capital Region schools and a flexible schedule outside regular business hours.

Salary: $114,000–$126,000 per year.

KIPP Capital Region is a network of public charter schools serving more than 2,500 K–12 students across seven schools in Albany and Troy.

What you will do

  • Lead the school’s vision, culture, academic goals, and behavior management.
  • Co-lead instructional and operational goals with the Director of Operations.
  • Manage and develop the school leadership team, including assistant principals, deans, instructional coaches, and special education coordinators.
  • Observe and coach instructional leaders so they provide actionable feedback to teachers.
  • Use qualitative feedback, quantitative data, and observations to guide strategy, decision-making, and accountability.
  • Lead professional development and build systems for recruiting, developing, and retaining diverse, high-achieving employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least three years of experience as a school principal.
  • At least ten years of progressive experience in education.
  • Direct experience working with students and prior experience in charter, private, or public schools and urban communities.
  • Strong commitment to equity, anti-racism, diversity, and inclusive school environments.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and work a flexible schedule outside regular business hours.
