What you will do

• Teach Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening through a curriculum aligned with Advanced Placement and college-preparatory coursework.
• Build students’ bilingual skills, cultural awareness, confidence, and ability to communicate in Spanish.
• Help students work with authentic print and audio sources and develop academic autonomy.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments weekly with the principal or instructional coach.
• Differentiate instruction and collaborate with Spanish, grade-level, and content teams to improve student outcomes.
• Build positive relationships with students and families and participate in school-wide meetings, mentorship, coaching, and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in Spanish or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in impacting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Certification is not required for hiring, but candidates without an education degree must enroll in a teacher preparation program and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5.
• Teachers must become certified in New York State within a reasonable period after starting employment.
