HV Project Manager (High Voltage Substations)

Location: Remote within the United States; regular travel to project sites, utility offices, and vendor facilities is required.

Salary: $110,837–$138,547 per year.

What you will do

• Manage substation projects through design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Review interconnection agreements, utility requirements, studies, contracts, and engineering specifications.
• Develop and track budgets covering equipment, civil work, grounding, protection and control, SCADA, and construction labor.
• Lead subcontractors and coordinate RFIs, submittals, billing, change orders, safety, reporting, and schedules.
• Coordinate utility, owner, engineering, construction, and vendor meetings, including relay settings, switching orders, testing, and interconnection activities.
• Oversee long-lead equipment procurement, commissioning readiness, final punch lists, and project documentation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in substation design, construction, or commissioning for 69kV–500kV utility-scale or industrial systems.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary substation projects through full lifecycle delivery and managing transmission line construction.
• Knowledge of transformers, breakers, switchgear, grounding, control buildings, protection and control, relays, and SCADA.
• Working knowledge of utility operations, switching procedures, relay testing, energization protocols, LOTO, and energized work practices.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office; P6 scheduling experience is preferred.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Licensed Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional certification.
• NFPA 70E Qualified Person experience.
• Experience with CAD, PDF markup tools, and field documentation platforms.
