AI/ML Engineer

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; onsite full time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. Core office hours coverage is required from 10AM–2PM.

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain RAG pipelines, including document processing, embedding generation, retrieval configuration, and prompt assembly.
• Integrate LLMs into applications using available APIs and frameworks.
• Develop and maintain REST API interactions for data retrieval and system integration.
• Design and refine Postgres schemas to improve data organization and query performance.
• Conduct technical research and apply emerging AI/ML methodologies to evolving mission requirements.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
• 6–8+ years of experience depending on education: 8 years with a bachelor’s degree, 7 with a master’s degree, or 6 with a doctorate.
• Experience developing AI/ML applications involving RAG, semantic retrieval, LLM integration, or related workflows.
• Strong proficiency in Python, modern AI/ML libraries, frameworks, and API integrations.
• Ability to perform independent technical research, evaluate emerging approaches, and rapidly learn new tools and methodologies.
• Ability to work onsite full time in McLean, Virginia, covering the Sponsor’s core office hours.

Nice to have

• Advanced research experience in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, generative AI, reinforcement learning, computer vision, or related fields.
• Research publications, open-source AI/ML contributions, or experience leading experimental and prototype development.
• Familiarity with model evaluation, fine-tuning, inference optimization, and AI observability tools.
• Experience with vector databases, AWS, Docker, and containerized AI/ML workflows.
• Experience designing REST APIs and scalable data architectures.
