Senior AI/ML Engineer (LLMs)

Location: New York, NY or remote within the United States

Salary: $200,000–$235,000 base salary per year, plus annual bonus and company equity plan.

What you will do

• Lead AI/ML projects from ideation and requirements gathering through architecture, development, deployment, and optimization.
• Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered features for extracting information from complex medical documents and supporting human-in-the-loop summarization workflows.
• Develop hybrid solutions combining statistical machine learning, LLMs, RAG, embeddings-based retrieval, vector search, and similarity measures.
• Make architectural and technical decisions balancing scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, and business impact.
• Evaluate AI outputs with data labelers and subject matter experts, improving model performance and alignment with user outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership while collaborating with Product, Engineering, SMEs, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience writing performant Python code using modern best practices.
• At least 1 year of experience building and deploying professional products powered by large language models.
• Experience leading technical projects from concept through production and making architectural decisions for AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on experience with statistical machine learning, LLMs, RAG, embeddings-based models, vector search, and similarity measures.
• Experience building and integrating API services in service-oriented or microservice architectures.
• Expertise in prompt engineering, LLM fine-tuning, model evaluation, and communicating technical direction across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience translating state-of-the-art AI/ML research into production code.
• Experience with agentic or autonomous AI systems, multimodal data, or improving training data and evaluation processes.
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership across projects or teams.
