Senior AI / ML Engineer (LLMs)

Location: New York, NY or remote within the United States

Base salary: $200,000–$235,000 annually, plus annual bonus and company equity plan.

What you will do

• Lead AI/ML projects from ideation and requirements gathering through architecture, development, deployment, and optimization.
• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered and LLM-driven features for medical claims synthesis.
• Extract key information from complex medical documents and develop human-in-the-loop summarization workflows.
• Build hybrid solutions combining statistical machine learning, LLMs, RAG, embeddings-based retrieval, vector search, and similarity measures.
• Make architectural decisions and optimize production systems for scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with data labelers, SMEs, Product, and Engineering to evaluate model outputs and improve product performance.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience writing performant Python code using modern best practices.
• At least 1 year of experience building and deploying products powered by LLMs in a professional environment.
• Experience leading technical projects from concept through production deployment and making architecture decisions for AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on experience with statistical machine learning, LLMs, RAG, embeddings-based models, vector search, and similarity measures.
• Experience building and integrating API services within service-oriented or microservice architectures.
• Expertise in evaluating model outputs, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning LLMs for domain-specific applications, with strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience translating state-of-the-art AI/ML research into production code.
• Experience improving training data and evaluation processes with data labelers and SMEs.
• Experience building agentic or autonomous AI systems in production.
• Experience with multimodal data such as images or audio.
• Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.
