TL;DR
Part Time Finance Controller (Financial Planning and Business Performance): Providing financial leadership, performance analysis, and business partnering support for profitable growth and operational excellence with an accent on budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and KPI management. Focus on challenging business assumptions, modelling financial scenarios, monitoring operational cost centres, and guiding resource allocation decisions.
Location: Edinburgh, UK; hybrid role. 20 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 09:00–14:00.

What you will do
- Partner with the Managing Director, senior leadership, business line, and operations leaders on business strategy and financial decision-making.
- Lead planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and monthly business reviews.
- Translate strategic initiatives into measurable targets and KPIs, monitoring performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Provide scenario modelling, business case evaluations, profitability analysis, cost management, and financial assessments for transformation, growth, and facility projects.
- Monitor and optimise operational and overhead cost centres, analyse variances, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Support workforce cost planning, financial governance, compliance, ESG initiatives, and cash-aware resource allocation.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of management accounting, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with KPI development, profitability analysis, cost control, business performance management, and operational or commercial finance support.
- Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide actionable business insights.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong communication, organisation, resilience, and deadline-management skills.
- Qualified finance professional with ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or an equivalent qualification, plus a commitment to continuing professional development.
