Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States; hybrid

Base compensation: $95,200–$142,800 annually

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise for ITS, ATMS, signal system, and transportation technology projects.
• Develop design plans, specifications, systems engineering documentation, master plans, concepts of operations, and policy documents in line with FHWA guidelines.
• Develop signal design and signal interconnect plans using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and electrical design documents.
• Conduct field work, equipment testing, and infrastructure verification.
• Support ITS and ATMS projects across planning, design, implementation, and operations, including proposals and industry events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of relevant ITS/ATMS or signal design experience.
• Familiarity with FHWA systems engineering processes.
• Strong technical background in ITS/ATMS/signal planning, design, and systems engineering.
• Willingness to travel for projects and client needs, with strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to build effective client and team relationships and adapt to evolving technologies and project needs.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
