TL;DR
Technical Services Technician, Level 3 (Solar Infrastructure): Performing corrective maintenance, repairs, testing, troubleshooting, and energized electrical work on utility-scale solar and battery-storage projects with an accent on PV systems, medium-voltage cable work, fiber-optic testing, and safety. Focus on diagnosing network and telemetry issues, managing field crews, evaluating failures, and producing repair estimates and technical reports while traveling to remote job sites.

Location: Remote with travel to field job sites required as needed; ability to travel 80% of the time and work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions.

Compensation: $30.85–$38.56 per hour.

What you will do

  • Perform site testing, preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and energized electrical work on solar projects.
  • Complete cable splicing, medium-voltage cable terminations, crimping, electrical testing, and related repair work.
  • Troubleshoot network, telemetry, fiber-optic, and electrical system issues.
  • Manage field crews, including temporary employees, while overseeing safety, quality, hours, and job completion.
  • Prepare accurate reports, failure evaluations, material and labor estimates, project bids, and timelines.
  • Communicate with teammates, onsite technicians, customers, and project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time and work remotely at field locations.
  • Valid NFPA 70E safety training certification or equivalent, CPR/First Aid training, confined-space training, and equipment-operator certifications.
  • Ability to identify hazards, isolate energized electrical sources, follow safety procedures, and work independently under demanding conditions.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and symbols, troubleshooting fiber-optic and telemetry systems, and operating electrical test equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, effective English communication, organizational skills, and availability for on-call work, including weekends or after-hours situations.

Nice to have

  • Substation switch-person training.
  • Advanced fiber-optic splicing and OTDR testing skills.
  • Welding, metal fabrication, medium-voltage cable splicing and termination, TDR testing, and large-crew management experience.
