Wireless Technician

Location: Berlin, CT, United States. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required as necessary. On-call and emergency restoration work may occur outside normal hours and locations.

Starting pay: $39.67 per hour, progressing according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Install, modify, configure, test, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wireless telecommunications systems and associated hardware, software, and firmware.
• Support analog and digital radio systems, WANs, transmitters, receivers, routers, servers, dispatch consoles, voice recorders, and related communication equipment.
• Use spectrum analyzers, transmission line test sets, network test sets, oscilloscopes, meters, and other electrical and electronic instruments.
• Interpret schematic, wiring, logic, and interconnection diagrams and update engineering drawings, databases, logs, and system records.
• Analyze test results, report wireless performance issues, recommend improvements, and return repaired equipment to service.
• Respond to on-call assignments and emergency restoration efforts while maintaining safe work practices and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Entry-level position performed under close supervision.
• Associate degree in electrical engineering or technology, computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related discipline; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent plus five years of related telecommunications system experience.
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic components, circuitry, systems, testing, measurement techniques, and computer-based technology.
• Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing, read engineering drawings, and perform equipment repairs and adjustments.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and annual maintenance of Critical Infrastructure Protection certification.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, walk or hike challenging terrain for up to one mile, and work alone in tight, noisy, and remote environments.
