Entry-Level Lab Technician (Weds-Sun) (Environment Testing)

Location: Edison, New Jersey, USA; candidates should live within a commutable distance. Full-time Wednesday–Sunday schedule.

Compensation: USD 17.50–19.50 per hour, plus shift differential and eligible benefits.

What you will do

• Retrieve samples and perform sample preparation, including aliquoting, spiking, tracing, reagent preparation, concentration preparation, separation, and sonication.
• Prepare water-on-soil samples for metals analysis and perform digestions with concentrated acids.
• Learn and use the laboratory information management system, TALS, and mercury analysis procedures.
• Prepare laboratory paperwork, record analysis results, track samples, and maintain bench sheets and logbooks.
• Wash glassware, stock supplies, maintain equipment and work areas, and support other laboratory sections as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; high school chemistry coursework is preferred.
• Basic laboratory experience and knowledge of chemistry, scientific methods, laboratory procedures, standard operating procedures, and chemical hazards.
• Ability to use calculators and mathematical formulas, meet time and quality constraints, multitask, solve problems, and work independently from written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry up to 30 pounds, and push or pull up to 200 pounds; the role requires extended periods of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required, including reading, writing, and speaking.
