Turbomachinery Aerodynamic Design Manager

Location: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, United States; hybrid schedule with four days per week in the office. Travel is minimal, typically less than 10%.

hirify.global is an industrial gases company whose Rotoflow business designs and manufactures cryogenic and warm-gas centrifugal turbomachinery for industrial gas, hydrocarbon, LNG, and petrochemical applications.

What you will do

• Own aerodynamic design strategy, analysis methodologies, performance prediction, and aero engineering capabilities across the Rotoflow portfolio.
• Lead advanced aerodynamic design and flowpath optimization for impellers, vanes, centrifugal compressors, turboexpanders, and related turbomachinery components.
• Apply CFD, 2D, quasi-3D, and 1D methods to analyze performance, optimize designs, and create aerodynamic performance maps.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four Aero Engineers while setting engineering standards and best practices.
• Improve aero sizing, performance prediction, modeling, software tools, and engineering workflows.
• Collaborate across product, proposals, simulation, process, and manufacturing engineering from proposal development through testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and aftermarket support.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of turbomachinery or rotating machinery aerodynamic design experience.
• Experience designing turbomachinery flowpath components, impellers, vanes, compressors, turboexpanders, or related rotating equipment.
• Experience with CFD-based aerodynamic analysis and 1D, 2D, and 3D aerodynamic tools.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineers, projects, technical disciplines, or engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery performance analysis, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Aerodynamics, Turbomachinery, or a related field.
• 5+ years leading aerodynamic engineers in a design environment.
• Experience with ANSYS, Concepts NREC AxCent, or similar turbomachinery analysis platforms.
• Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, C#, VB, Fortran, or similar languages.
• Experience with turbine testing, data acquisition, performance mapping, and blade geometry modeling.
