TL;DR
Staff Component Engineer (Aerospace): Leading EEE component selection, qualification, standardization, failure analysis, and performance verification for satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace electronics with an accent on high-reliability parts engineering and supplier management. Focus on developing parts plans, evaluating screening and qualification data, mitigating obsolescence, and supporting radiation, reliability, and product development decisions.

Location: Melbourne, Florida, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

  • Lead selection, standardization, qualification, screening, and performance verification of high-reliability EEE components.
  • Define testing and qualification requirements with customers and support aerospace programs by reviewing customer documentation.
  • Develop component roadmaps and product upgrade strategies with engineering teams while balancing cost and schedule.
  • Author parts plans, process documents, Engineering Change Orders, Non-Standard Parts Approval Requests, and Source Control Drawings.
  • Review manufacturer and laboratory screening data for compliance with specifications, purchase orders, and program contracts.
  • Support design, reliability, and quality teams through failure analysis, supplier audits, cost analysis, and obsolescence mitigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant component engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of component selection, qualification, screening, and derating for military and aerospace applications.
  • Experience developing parts plans for high-volume satellite constellations and evaluating screening and qualification in that context.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management systems, including new part requests, part objects, and part attributes.
  • U.S. employment eligibility or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations is required.

Nice to have

  • Technical leadership experience mentoring junior component engineers and educating designers.
  • Experience with failure analysis reports, reliability analyses, radiation effects, and tin whisker mitigation.
  • Knowledge of EEE component manufacturing processes and experience with RF devices and FPGAs.
  • Experience with components used in ground or air applications.
