TL;DR
Principal Hardware Reliability Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and executing spacecraft and constellation reliability strategies with an accent on reliability requirements, accelerated testing, statistical modeling, and failure analysis. Focus on building integrated wear-out models, leading root-cause investigations, flowing requirements into complex hardware systems, and improving reliability for high-volume satellite production.

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States. The role involves access to ITAR-controlled information and items; the hire must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Base salary: $185,000–$220,000 per year, plus company equity.

Company

hirify.global develops high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from low Earth orbit to deep space.

What you will do

  • Own spacecraft- and constellation-level reliability requirements, models, allocations, and probability-of-success and availability targets.
  • Define HALT, HASS, accelerated life testing, reliability growth, lot acceptance, and success-run demonstration programs.
  • Develop Weibull, Kaplan–Meier, accelerated failure-time, Monte Carlo, probabilistic risk assessment, degradation, and Bayesian reliability models.
  • Integrate reliability analysis with program risk management and flow down margins, screening, derating, and test requirements to subsystems.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for critical hardware failures, including FRACAS and test-effectiveness tracking.
  • Collaborate with design, systems, test, and manufacturing teams; mentor reliability engineers and advise leadership across spacecraft programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in reliability engineering, hardware testing, failure analysis, or related work in space, automotive, semiconductor, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Experience with reliability testing, failure analysis, statistical modeling, and engineering or production data analysis.
  • Ability to work across hardware design, systems engineering, testing, manufacturing, and program risk management.
  • Programming experience in Python or C++ for data analysis, statistical modeling, and reliability calculations.
  • Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with AFT models such as Norris–Landzberg and Arrhenius, degradation models, Bayesian hierarchical modeling, and MCMC tools.
  • Experience with thermal, vibration, and TVAC testing, EEE components, Physics of Failure tools, derating, DFX, and requirements flow-down.
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup or new-space environment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on high-power satellite platforms designed for multiple orbits and deep-space missions.
  • Fast-paced, high-growth Series D environment with broad ownership and cross-functional scope.
  • Paid time off, medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Life insurance, paid parental leave, additional perks, and company equity.
