Credit Account Specialist I

Location: Owatonna, Minnesota, United States; onsite

Pay range: $19.08–$24.00 per hour

What you will do

• Analyze and collect account balances within an assigned territory.
• Contact customers about outstanding balances according to company policies and collection strategies.
• Verify customer account balances and review orders for release under credit guidelines.
• Help resolve disputes, deductions, and charge-backs, including sending invoices and supporting documents.
• Answer credit reference inquiries in accordance with National Association of Credit Management guidelines.
• Report account status and escalate difficult collection matters, including potential adverse actions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic math skills and the ability to read, write, and understand work instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication, organization, teamwork, and ability to work under supervision.
• Customer-service mindset and ability to interact with people in demanding circumstances.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Two years of experience in accounting or a related field.
