TL;DR
Design Engineer (Architectural Metals): Guiding new architectural product development from concept through introduction with an accent on manufacturability, aluminum and plastic extrusions, and fenestration performance. Focus on defining technical scope, leading Stage Gate development, designing and testing mockups, and resolving product issues across manufacturing, laboratories, and job sites.
Location: Wausau, Wisconsin, United States; full-time onsite role

What you will do
- Guide the technical scope of new product development projects from inception through product introduction.
- Design, revise, and approve aluminum and plastic extrusions, die drawings, production drawings, and associated product materials.
- Optimize product designs for manufacturability, system compatibility, performance, and cost.
- Plan design criteria, lead cross-functional development teams, and maintain Stage Gate processes and documentation.
- Support fabrication, assembly, installation, glazing, and testing of fenestration mockups, including diagnosing testing failures.
- Provide technical support for sales, customers, suppliers, product selection, calculations, and specification reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a design-related field such as engineering or architecture.
- Applicable R&D and Stage Gate experience from academic projects, internships, or co-op work.
- Strong ability to analyze technical information, define problems, collect data, interpret results, and communicate conclusions.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D; speed and efficiency in 2D AutoCAD are critical.
- Experience with CTO PRO, THERM, WINDOW, CMAST, Microsoft Office applications, and ERP systems.
- Ability to work primarily in an office, visit the manufacturing floor, travel moderately, and perform the stated physical duties.
