Senior Power Electronics and Controls Engineer (SiC/GaN)

Location: On-site at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, New York, United States

Salary: $127,000–$179,000 per year, plus a full benefits package

What you will do

• Design and develop power conversion and digital control circuits from high-level requirements.
• Model, simulate, build, test, troubleshoot, and integrate power electronics products.
• Develop product architectures and detailed circuit designs focused on reliability and producibility.
• Select components, analyze semiconductor losses, and evaluate cost versus performance.
• Lead product design reviews and approve design changes and specifications.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, operations, quality, supply chain, and customers on product development and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, MS with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years preferred.
• Expertise in PID control design and implementation across hardware, software, and firmware.
• Strong experience with power electronics converter design, modeling, construction, and testing.
• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor physics, including SiC and GaN devices, analog circuit design, and magnetics.
• Experience with controls and electro-thermo-mechanical multi-physics simulations, prognostics, and health monitoring for power electronics.
• Strong English proficiency for written design documentation and verbal technical communication; on-site presence in Hauppauge, New York is required.
