Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Charter Steel, 1658 Cold Springs Rd., Saukville, WI 53080, United States. This is an onsite, full-time role on a 5-2-2-5 rotating night shift, with 12-hour shifts from 4:30 PM to 4:30 AM.

Compensation includes competitive base pay, a $2.25/hour night shift premium, a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid after 90 days, quarterly bonuses, and annual profit sharing.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain mechanical systems and industrial production equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment calibrations to improve performance and reliability.
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, plumbing, and power transmission systems.
• Operate and maintain industrial tools and mobile equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Collaborate with Electrical Maintenance Technicians on cross-functional maintenance tasks.
• Follow safety procedures for lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined-space entry, rigging, and lifting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; a free GEDWorks program is available for employees who do not have one.
• At least 3 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
• Skills in machining, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, plumbing, and power transmission systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing overhead cranes, plus proficiency with rigging and lifting procedures.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 100 pounds, use hand tools, and work around heat, cold, grease, and elevated heights.

Nice to have

• Journeyman certification or completion of a formal apprenticeship.
• Experience with SMAW, MIG, or TIG welding and fabrication.
• Steel or heavy manufacturing experience.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and current safety certifications.
