BESS Engineer II (Remote)

Location: Remote - California, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $90,000–$112,506 per year

What you will do

• Design and review battery energy storage system projects, ensuring compliance with contracts, utility requirements, authorities having jurisdiction, and applicable standards.
• Contribute technical oversight across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and high-voltage engineering scopes.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party engineering partners, coordinating scope, deliverables, and schedules.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and procurement documentation; evaluate vendors and review supplier drawings.
• Support design, procurement, installation, construction, testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization.
• Model, simulate, and analyze systems to improve performance, efficiency, reliability, and safety; support proposals and customer meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, grid interconnection equipment, BESS controls, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Experience with power-system analysis and simulation tools such as PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, utility standards, and BESS fire-protection requirements including UL9540, UL9540A, and NFPA 855.
• Experience with SCADA and Energy Management System communication protocols, including IEC 61850, plus proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
