Lab Assistant Sr.- Dallas Sammons

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States. Full-time, on-site schedule Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; no call, weekends, or major holidays.

What you will do

• Collect, identify, process, and send patient specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Perform directed chemistry, hematology, and immunology testing.
• Document orders, results, accessioning information, quality control data, maintenance records, and daily laboratory activity.
• Operate laboratory equipment, perform scheduled maintenance, monitor supplies, and troubleshoot issues with technical services as needed.
• Prepare patients, perform phlebotomy and vital-sign collection, support patient flow, and arrange blood-product transfusions when ordered.
• Follow CLIA, OSHA, universal precautions, safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements when handling specimens, chemicals, needles, and hazardous materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Level I requires no experience; Level II requires three years of experience; Senior level requires five or more years of experience.
• Current state licensure, where applicable.
• Phlebotomy licensure from an accredited school is recommended.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy, operate laboratory equipment, maintain accurate records, and work safely around blood, body fluids, infectious agents, chemotherapeutic agents, chemicals, glassware, and needles.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
