Director of College & Career Counseling (26-27)

Location: Houston, TX, USA; full-time, on-campus school schedule with travel to other KIPP campuses, college and university campuses, career sites, and family homes as needed

What you will do

• Develop, manage, and lead the college and career counseling department at a KIPP high school.
• Coach and support College & Career Instructors through curriculum assessment, classroom observation, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
• Lead college and career programming and exposure opportunities for students.
• Build processes supporting postsecondary planning, financial aid and postsecondary applications, standardized-test registration, and matriculation.
• Track student college and career data and monitor progress toward graduation, postsecondary preparation, applications, and matriculation goals.
• Collaborate with school leadership, KIPP Forward, KIPP Foundation, families, educators, colleges, career partners, scholarship organizations, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution.
• Experience leading high-performance and diverse teams.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication, project-planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to use data for decision-making and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Professional development training in college and career readiness and success is essential.
• Ability to meet the school schedule, including evenings, holidays, weekends, and required travel when necessary.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience working with high school students and their families in college counseling.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
