Controls Engineer

Company

Large-scale baking manufacturer producing branded breads, muffins, cakes, and donuts through a nationwide network of bakeries, sales centers, offices, and sales routes.

What you will do

• Provide controls expertise and second-level maintenance support in a highly automated baking facility.
• Use Rockwell Automation software and maintain Allen-Bradley PLCs, VFDs, HMIs/OITs, control devices, firmware, and software revisions.
• Review plant KPIs and equipment data, identify improvement opportunities, and lead teams in developing engineered solutions.
• Support manufacturing controls networks and coordinate with plant personnel, corporate engineering, and IT.
• Maintain device backup libraries, identify cost savings, implement improvement projects, and participate in budget planning.
• Mentor, develop, train, and validate mechanics' knowledge of controls systems while supporting equipment safety and food safety.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of relevant experience and a technical degree or AAM graduation; equivalent education, training, and experience may substitute.
• Strong experience with Rockwell Controls Software, Microsoft Office, and electrical control systems.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs/OITs, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, PCs, robotics, and controls networks.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to understand and follow work and safety instructions.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and team-building skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-level operational baking environment and perform the required physical activities around machinery hazards.

Nice to have

• AutoCAD experience.
• Knowledge of server systems.
• Experience in a food processing plant.
• Equipment-specific knowledge relevant to the assigned facility.
• Willingness to provide infrequent minor travel to support other facilities or inspect supplier equipment.
