Junior Electrical Engineering Specialist (Transportation)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; full-time office-based position with occasional travel to project sites and client locations.

Salary: $82,862.07–$94,699.51 per year.

What you will do

• Support the design and development of electrical systems for transportation, transit, rail, and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports, engineering studies, presentations, cost estimates, and project documentation.
• Develop low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding and bonding systems, equipment layouts, and communications and control interfaces.
• Perform load analysis, voltage-drop, short-circuit, and equipment-sizing evaluations.
• Support field investigations, site visits, equipment assessments, testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, track, signals, communications, traction power, and facilities engineering teams, while supporting project managers with schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 0–3 years of electrical engineering experience, including relevant internship, co-op, research, or academic project experience.
• Understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles, design practices, engineering calculations, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites and client locations.

Nice to have

• Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward EIT/FE credentials.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar engineering tools.
• Exposure to transportation, transit, rail, airport, roadway, tunnel, or industrial infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, AREMA, or related industry standards.
