Lead Building Engineer

Location: Washington, DC; 100% in-office during standard business hours. Remote work and telecommuting are not available.

Salary: $87,360 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead daily operations and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, inspections, equipment readings, and corrective actions.
• Oversee service contractors, vendors, scopes of work, contract compliance, and quality control.
• Supervise, mentor, train, and support performance evaluation for engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with tenants, property managers, contractors, vendors, and client employees to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain safety compliance, training records, PPE practices, and adherence to OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA, and applicable building codes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five to seven years of related industry experience or equivalent certification/trade experience.
• At least one year of supervisory, training, or mentoring experience.
• In-depth knowledge of BAS, HVAC, electrical controls, complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, CMMS, energy management software, and building operations platforms.
• CFC certification is preferred or must be obtainable as requested; required engineering and trade licenses must be held according to applicable requirements.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available. Ability to work after hours, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies is required.
