Operations Supervisor (Construction Materials Testing)

Location: Duluth, Minnesota, United States; full-time onsite role

What you will do

• Lead, hire, supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate technicians and special inspectors performing field work.
• Develop and implement construction materials testing policies, best practices, and safe work practices.
• Monitor budgets, projections, headcount, backlog, equipment, and fleet vehicles, recommending operational changes as needed.
• Coordinate schedules and regional resources while communicating project progress and issues with consulting staff.
• Review testing and inspection quality, investigate issues, and implement resolutions on projects.
• Support proposals, client relationships, departmental sales goals, and routine to complex field testing and inspections.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of experience in materials testing or construction.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
• Experience with field testing and inspections on commercial and transportation-related projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, customer service, and training-presentation skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and work effectively under ambiguity, pressure, and stress.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

Nice to have

• ACI, ICC, and MnDOT certifications.
• Experience with Metafield, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
