Staff Engineer/Assistant Project Manager-Construction Materials Testing

What you will do

• Assist project managers with construction materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical construction projects.
• Coordinate field technicians, inspectors, subcontractors, laboratory personnel, schedules, and project progress.
• Visit project sites, conduct reconnaissance and field observations, and collect construction and subsurface data.
• Review plans, specifications, permits, site photographs, aerial imagery, and project background information.
• Prepare boring logs, test pit logs, cross sections, field documentation, project records, and engineering reports.
• Support engineering calculations, construction-related analyses, troubleshooting, budgeting, scheduling, and administrative activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, geotechnical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice to have

• Experience with construction materials testing, special inspections, geotechnical investigations, or construction quality assurance.
• Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward professional licensure.
• Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
• Experience coordinating field operations, subcontractors, or project schedules.
• Interest in pursuing construction services project management.
