Industrial Design Intern (Marine)

Location: Edgewater, Florida, United States; hybrid workplace. Full-time internship from May to August 2027, with a 40-hour work week.

Pay: $18.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, education, experience, business needs, and location.

What you will do

• Convert product requirements for new boat models into conceptual designs that meet functional, feature, and cost targets.
• Generate sketches, 2D drawings, renderings, and 3D models for new product ideas.
• Validate concepts through 3D modeling, product mock-ups, design reviews, and engineering reviews.
• Communicate design intent and present recommendations to management and engineering teams.
• Incorporate manufacturability, marine standards, boat construction knowledge, and supplier specifications into designs.
• Assist engineering with design problems, changes, and new techniques while coordinating with internal and external suppliers.

Requirements

• At least two years completed toward a bachelor's degree in industrial design.
• Strong rendering, sketching, written communication, and oral communication skills.
• Computer design experience, including 3D modeling techniques; Rhino is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate continuously with design, engineering, management, and supplier groups.
• Immediate authorization to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Portfolio under 2 GB or a link to an online portfolio.

Nice to have

• Completed sophomore year in a related area of study.
• Marine, boating, fishing, or marine industry experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and general web-based applications.
• Good interpersonal skills.
