Staff Software Engineer (Genomics)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; hybrid work

Base salary: $155,600–$233,400 per year, plus eligible bonus or commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define software architecture for high-performance genomic signal processing pipelines.
• Design, develop, debug, and integrate C/C++ software on Linux for multithreaded applications.
• Optimize software running on hirify.global sequencing instruments, improving speed and accuracy.
• Develop analysis solutions that process image-derived signals for researchers and clinicians.
• Collaborate with bioinformatics, instrument design, test, and quality teams in an agile environment.
• Provide technical leadership and evaluate emerging software and hardware technologies.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience with C/C++, Java, or C#.
• Experience with multithreading and memory management techniques.
• Proficiency with debugging, troubleshooting, performance analysis, optimization, and source control tools.
• Extensive experience writing high-quality unit tests with mock objects.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience developing software for real-time systems.
• Experience with image processing algorithms and time-series analysis.
• Experience with Python and Python visualization libraries.
