Certified Pharmacy Technician Sr (Oncology)

Location: Midland, Texas, United States; onsite work from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm lunch break

What you will do

• Prepare and admix medications, including chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IVs, under the supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist.
• Review medication orders for completeness, patient information, and physician authorization.
• Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary measurements.
• Maintain controlled-substance records, temperature logs, inventory records, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
• Perform cleaning, hood maintenance, medication-outdate checks, waste disposal, and other quality assurance activities in line with OSHA, state and federal requirements, and USP compliance.
• Support labeling, documentation, basic data entry, pre-billing review, and ordering medications and supplies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• For the senior level, five to seven years of pharmacy experience with IV skills.
• Oncology experience or extensive IV preparation experience is preferred for the senior level.
• Ability to follow medication-preparation procedures, quality standards, state and federal regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, read and record measurements, and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Regular exposure to patients, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.

Nice to have

• IV certification.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or applicable State Pharmacy Board qualification.
• Completion of an ASCP-accredited or community college-based program.
