TL;DR
Assembly Technician - 1st Shift (HVACR): Assembling and testing oil-free centrifugal compressors for HVACR systems in a laboratory and manufacturing environment with an accent on mechanical assembly, instrumentation, and non-standard test component fabrication. Focus on interpreting engineering instructions and schematics, collecting build data, troubleshooting equipment, and performing brazing, soldering, machining, and wiring tasks.

Location: Sidney, Ohio, USA; fully onsite with no hybrid or remote work. First shift consists of five eight-hour workdays, with overtime possible.

What you will do

  • Assemble and test oil-free centrifugal compressors using detailed engineering build instructions.
  • Operate hydraulic presses, micrometers, torque wrenches, pressure gauges, voltage meters, and standard hand tools.
  • Fabricate components for non-standard tests through brazing, soldering, grinding, sanding or lapping, drilling, tapping, and wiring.
  • Collect and document build data to maintain compliance with standards and takt times.
  • Support laboratory upkeep and equipment maintenance.
  • Work alongside product and design engineers in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment and basic instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Five or more years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Experience with mechanical or electrical manufacturing equipment and tool and die work.
  • Familiarity with control systems and basic PLC concepts.
  • Experience with brazing and soldering techniques.
  • Automotive or diesel mechanic experience or certifications.
