Service Technician - Qualified (HVAC/R)

What you will do

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and temperature-controlled merchandisers under the direction of a Master or Lead Service Technician.
• Service conventional refrigeration systems, parallel rack systems, walk-in coolers, and other commercial refrigeration units.
• Assist with compressor changes, leak searches, coil washing, system evacuation and charging, pump-down, and defrost procedures.
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, refrigeration-cycle diagnostics, and temperature and pressure chart analysis.
• De-ice evaporator coils, replace fan motors, wash condenser coils, and safely handle R290 refrigerant and dry nitrogen.
• Complete service documentation, customer paperwork, invoicing, electronic communications, and truck inventory management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC/R technical school degree is preferred.
• Two years of field experience, or no experience with technical school certification; internal candidates need one year as a General Laborer with completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record in accordance with fleet policy.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical maintenance, hand tools, HVAC heating and cooling concepts, electrical schematics, refrigeration principles, and safe refrigerant handling.
• Ability to walk long distances, crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds; availability for nights and weekends as required.
