Service Technician - Professional (Commercial Refrigeration)

What you will do

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Troubleshoot complex service calls, refrigeration controls, thermostatic expansion valves, pressure regulators, compressors, oil-management systems, and advanced wiring diagrams.
• Install and adjust refrigeration components, including drain pipes, cases, glass doors, frames, coils, sensors, and electrical connections.
• Detect and repair leaks, perform refrigerant and oil conversions, and use brazing, soldering, welding, recovery, and testing equipment.
• Manage truck inventory, vehicle maintenance, service documentation, electronic communications, and invoicing.
• Serve as a technical resource for other technicians and lead HVAC/R preventive-maintenance programs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; an HVAC-R technical school degree is preferred.
• At least 7 years of field experience, or 5 years with technical-school certification; internal candidates require 3 years as a certified technician with completed OJT and skills assessment.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification and a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of hand tools, electrical and mechanical systems, decision-making, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to walk long distances, crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and repeatedly lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Availability to work nights and/or weekends as required.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of CO2 refrigeration systems.
• HVAC-R technical school education and commercial refrigeration or HVAC experience.
• Strong leadership and business acumen.
