Chief AI Officer

What you will do

• Own the organization’s AI strategy, roadmap, execution, and outcome accountability.
• Build and lead the AI engineering function, including hiring, retention, skill development, and collaboration with product, data, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Partner with the CEO and executive team on AI opportunities, competitive positioning, risk mitigation, and board- and investor-level communication.
• Drive organizational AI adoption by identifying high-impact use cases, removing barriers, and embedding AI literacy into workflows and decisions.
• Evaluate vendors, third-party AI platforms, and models, making build-versus-buy decisions based on security, performance, and cost.
• Establish AI governance, risk, and compliance frameworks covering privacy, fairness, security, and industry regulations.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, data science, or related technical leadership, including at least 5 years at director, VP, or C-level.
• Experience leading and scaling engineering teams of approximately 10–50+ people, recruiting senior talent, and building high-performing organizations.
• Hands-on AI/ML depth, including model architectures, training pipelines, and technical feasibility assessment.
• Experience shipping AI products or capabilities to production, including ML ops, model deployment, monitoring, and cross-functional delivery.
• Strong executive communication skills for presenting AI strategy, risks, and trade-offs to boards, investors, and non-technical executives.
• Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, and requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, or industry-specific compliance.
