Solution Architect (Energy & Utilities)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working with attendance at the office or client site a minimum of 2 days per week, and up to 5 days per week on a client site depending on the assignment.

What you will do

• Provide technical assurance at programme level for energy and utilities technical change programmes.
• Create and assure architecture artefacts, including Key Design Decisions, Technical Options Papers, and High-Level Designs.
• Collaborate with engineering teams as a lead subject-matter expert to define architectural vision and guardrails.
• Support senior leaders with cases for change, cost estimation, and detailed planning.
• Apply agile practices and solve technical problems with clients and internal project teams.

Requirements

• Experience leading architecture and development teams and delivering end-to-end solutions for complex client challenges.
• Strong understanding of the energy and utilities sector, including areas such as water, gas, electricity, oil, or nuclear.
• Experience with enterprise and operational technologies such as IBM Maximo, SAP, billing, CRM, SCADA, and control systems.
• Ability to shape and communicate architectural strategies across application, business, and integration domains.
• Experience building relationships with senior stakeholders and translating technical insight into business value.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks and modelling tools such as UML and ArchiMate.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM, Oracle, or Salesforce.
• Knowledge of microservices, packaged solutions, cloud and on-premise models, digital transformation, IoT, or cloud-native architectures.
