Lead Associate Principal, Software Engineering: Java (Java)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work with up to 2 days per week of remote work

Salary: $136,000–$222,800 per year, plus an annual discretionary incentive target of 8%–15%

What you will do

• Lead requirements analysis and reviews, validate model assumptions, and identify incomplete requirements.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-optimized clearing applications in Java.
• Build next-generation event-driven and cloud-based solutions within an Agile and agreed architecture framework.
• Analyze, test, document, and review software against quality, performance, security, audit, and architectural standards.
• Perform application and project risk analysis, recommend quality improvements, and support production fixes.
• Mentor developers and collaborate with business analysts, architects, product owners, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building large-scale compute and event-driven solutions.
• Strong experience with Java 8+, including its internal workings, object-oriented design, advanced patterns such as AOP, and multithreading.
• Experience with databases including relational, NoSQL, object-based, and graph databases.
• Ability to deliver good-quality code with at least 90% unit and integration test coverage; Git workflow experience is required.
• Experience with cloud technologies and migrations, preferably AWS services including VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, KMS, AWS CLI, and IAM.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, Apache Spark, Kafka Streams, or Apache Flink.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Splunk, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, or AppDynamics.
• Master’s degree, OCP Java SE 8 Programmer certification, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification.
• Experience implementing risk analytics technologies and integrating modeling libraries.
