Consultant, Software Engineer - AWD NF Tech Lead (Java, APIs, Oracle)

Location: Hybrid in Columbus, Ohio, with office attendance two days per week on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Salary: $118,000–$222,000 annually; expected starting range: $118,000–$178,000.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical lead for the AWD-NF platform within the ChorusAWDVenture line.
• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and implement scalable platform capabilities, APIs, databases, messaging, and integrations.
• Set technical direction across application architecture, deployment, infrastructure, automation, and secure engineering practices.
• Support production stability through incident response, root-cause analysis, performance improvement, observability, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with product managers, agile leaders, architects, quality engineers, business stakeholders, vendors, and technical leads.
• Mentor engineers and testers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, documentation, runbooks, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis.
• Hands-on technical leadership experience, including setting technical direction and leading project teams without formal people management.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, object-oriented design, backend development, RESTful services, API design, SQL, and Oracle.
• Experience with Kafka, automated testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, Linux, deployment automation, observability, and secure authentication and authorization practices.
• Ability to work across AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, production operations, and complex regulated-enterprise environments.
• Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or a related field are strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake and Power BI.
• Experience with Angular, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with Apigee, JUnit, Mockito, Postman, Playwright, GitHub Actions, Harness, Rancher, Ansible, and AWS CDK.
• Three years of project management experience.
• Insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
