Manager of Engineering (Building Maintenance and Capital Projects)

Location: Rancho Cordova, California, USA; primary responsibility for the Rancho Cordova market, with travel of up to 25% outside the Sacramento region.

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 annually, with a possible discretionary bonus. A company vehicle is provided for business-related travel.

What you will do

• Lead engineering operations for seven office buildings totaling 615,000 square feet in the Sacramento market.
• Develop 10-year repair and maintenance forecasts, annual budgets, and capital plans for regional building systems.
• Prepare and manage Capital Approval Forms, preventive maintenance plans, inspection schedules, and engineering proposals.
• Evaluate equipment condition and asset life cycles to guide maintenance planning and capital investments.
• Coordinate engineering assessments and present recommendations to property management and leadership.
• Oversee vendors, project execution, site access, safety compliance, documentation, and maintenance records while mentoring engineering and maintenance staff.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, building engineering, or engineering operations.
• Experience leading maintenance and engineering operations across multiple commercial properties.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, fire and life safety systems, structural systems, and building finishes.
• Experience with capital planning, budget forecasting, preventive maintenance programs, and asset lifecycle management.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms and maintenance reporting or analytics tools.
• OSHA 30 Certification and relevant trade certification(s) required.

Nice to have

• Facilities Management Administrator certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
