Senior Staff BMC Firmware Engineer (BMC Firmware)

What you will do

• Develop platform BMC firmware, reference code, and related documentation for cloud servers.
• Design, implement, debug, and validate BMC firmware using server hardware architecture and system design expertise.
• Review firmware and software architecture specifications and provide technical feedback.
• Define design documentation and develop reference code and supporting collateral with engineering teams.
• Analyze motherboard and BMC specifications to improve platform reliability and compatibility.
• Support product development teams, platform power-on events, and cross-functional validation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 8+ years of experience, including BMC development and user interface or presentation-layer development; alternatively, a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of server hardware interfaces and industry specifications, including SMBus/I2C, PCIe, ACPI, DDR, IPMI, Ethernet, SATA, and SPI.
• Understanding of processor and enterprise system architectures, including x86 CPUs, memory controllers, I/O hubs, and PC architecture.
• Extensive experience with enterprise platforms, BMCs, drivers, and I/O technologies, including BIOS interaction with BMC functions.
• Experience with board-level diagnostic tools, demonstrated C programming skills, and x86 Assembly language skills.
• Knowledge of operating-system internals and their interaction with BMC functions.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenBMC and/or Redfish technology.
