Senior Associate, Software Engineering: Software Development Test (SDET) (Performance Testing)

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid work environment with up to 2 days per week of remote work

Salary: $86,500–$148,700 per year, plus a 6%–10% annual discretionary incentive range

What you will do

• Design and execute performance tests with LoadRunner, JMeter, and Gatling across AWS and on-premises environments.
• Create, maintain, and enhance performance test scripts, scenarios, repositories, automation frameworks, and parameterized test data.
• Analyze test results using Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, and related observability platforms to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to establish multi-region test environments and integrate performance regression testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Execute failover and disaster recovery testing across applications, databases, Kafka, middleware, and primary, secondary, and tertiary regions.
• Validate RTO/RPO metrics, replication lag, data consistency, failover behavior, and post-failover performance against SLAs and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on performance testing experience with LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, or similar tools.
• 2+ years designing and executing failover or disaster recovery testing in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Experience with Python or Java test automation, AWS, Kafka, relational databases, SQL queries, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux command-line tools.
• Experience testing multi-region architectures or distributed systems and integrating performance tests into automated regression frameworks.
• Experience with test management and issue tracking tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or SpiraTest.
• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, plus strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Performance engineering, LoadRunner, or AWS certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerized application performance testing, UC4/Automic, Postman, or RestAssured.
• Experience with data pipeline testing, Tableau, AWS cloud architecture, or Kafka cluster setup and tuning.
• Experience in the options and futures industry or other highly regulated, low-latency financial systems.
