Principal QA Automation Engineer

Location: Chicago, United States. Hybrid work with four days in the office each week; remote work requests may be considered under the company remote work policy. Unrestricted right to work in the U.S. is required.

Base salary compensation: $121,389–$151,563 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade automation frameworks for web, mobile, and API platforms.
• Develop and execute complex automated, exploratory, integration, and visual regression tests.
• Drive QA strategy and define standards for test coverage, performance, security, and reliability across six AWS environments supporting more than 200 million monthly requests.
• Integrate test suites into more than five CI/CD pipelines and perform interoperability testing across internal and third-party systems.
• Monitor application metrics and synthetic tests with observability platforms to identify degradation and downtime risks.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and DevOps teams, document test results, and mentor junior QA professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• At least eight years of experience in software quality assurance, test automation, and QA strategy development.
• At least eight years of experience testing web, mobile, and API applications and writing automation scripts in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Java.
• Experience with Selenium/WebDriver, TestNG, JUnit, object-oriented programming, issue tracking, and QA documentation.
• Experience designing CI/CD automation, working with AWS or comparable cloud environments, and building QA automation frameworks.
• Experience with exploratory and integration testing, content management system workflows, visual validation, monitoring, and observability.
