TL;DR
Critical Operations Manager (Data Center): Maintaining and operating mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and other critical data center systems with an accent on uptime, preventive maintenance, safety, and operational readiness. Focus on leading site operations staff, managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets, executing infrastructure projects, analyzing incidents, and preventing customer-impacting outages.

Location: Santa Teresa, New Mexico, United States; onsite, full-time. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Domestic travel of up to 20% and on-call availability are required.

Compensation: $161,500–$179,100 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead all operational aspects and uptime of a local data center campus, including electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, base building, and monitoring systems.
  • Manage and develop the site operations team of 4–12 direct reports, including training plans, mentoring, team meetings, and performance management.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs, respond to abnormal conditions, and manage systems to prevent unplanned customer-impacting outages.
  • Develop and manage site-level CAPEX and OPEX budgets, forecasts, vendor relationships, service contracts, procurement, billing, and project execution.
  • Create technical procedures for maintenance events, emergencies, and site changes; coordinate construction and commissioning without disrupting critical operations.
  • Lead incident reporting, root cause analysis, audits, compliance activities, customer liaison work, and site efficiency initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in data center or other mission-critical operations, plus 2–3 years managing facility preventive maintenance programs.
  • 2–3 years of vendor and project management experience and knowledge of hyperscale, enterprise, colocation, and telecommunications environments.
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, transformers, PDUs, RPPs, chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, and pre-action systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, fire life safety compliance, building codes, data center trending, and site monitoring systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software, and the ability to work effectively under stress with shifting priorities.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and pass a comprehensive background and drug screening. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, and lift up to 25 pounds.
