Sr Software Engineer (C#/.NET)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $129,400–$194,000 base annual salary, plus eligible bonus, commission, and equity programs.

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, and debug platform software for the secure and reliable transfer, storage, and management of sequencing data.
• Design software that maintains data integrity and recoverability during network interruptions, system restarts, power loss, and other failures.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, test environments, automation infrastructure, and software quality practices.
• Evaluate component designs, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and collaborate with technical leaders on continuous improvement.
• Partner with multiple software teams to address platform gaps, drive component-level innovation, and contribute to software road mapping.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical and customer issues involving multiple software components.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong professional experience with C# and .NET/.NET Core.
• Experience designing and implementing fault-tolerant distributed or multi-process systems, including concurrency, asynchronous processing, retry strategies, durable state management, idempotency, and recovery techniques.
• Experience with Linux, REST APIs, service-oriented architectures or microservices, and software quality practices such as continuous integration, static analysis, unit testing, and integration testing.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or equivalent tools; testing experience with MSTest, xUnit, NUnit, or similar frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience in medical or life sciences software, NGS, or bioinformatics.
• Experience with Go, complex hardware systems, hardware development, medical software, healthcare regulations, cybersecurity, network protocols, or file transfer protocols.
• Experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven design, or web testing frameworks such as Mocha, Jest, Selenium, or WebDriverIO.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
