Senior Electrical Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite at Charter Steel in Cleveland, Ohio; first shift, Monday through Friday. Two planned outages per year require schedule flexibility. Up to 10% travel. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. Relocation support within the United States may be provided for qualified candidates.

What you will do

• Serve as the electrical systems subject-matter expert for the manufacturing plant.
• Specify, design, and support electrical feeds, control systems, power distribution systems, and control panels.
• Lead planning and execution for major outages, upgrades, and capital projects.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs and improve plant reliability and operational performance.
• Maintain electrical drawings, documentation, system records, and the Arc Flash program.
• Provide technical guidance, diagnostics training, and project oversight to electricians, technicians, maintenance teams, and contractors.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Seven or more years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with high- and medium-voltage power distribution, drives, controls, motion controllers, PLCs, and motors.
• Ability to design, interpret, and draw electrical schematics and lay out control panels using schematics and I/O mapping.
• Proficiency with DVMs, process meters, oscilloscopes, meggers, Hipot equipment, and other electrical test equipment.
• Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E, electrical regulations, project execution, troubleshooting, and Microsoft Office including MS Project.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related advanced degree.
• CPM or related project management certification.
• Supervisory experience or experience influencing others without direct authority.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, machining, or mechanical systems.
• Experience developing and integrating plant MES systems.
